Minneapolis is an absolutely beautiful city, one that comes to life especially after five o’clock each evening. The city is brimming with fun and unique bars and restaurants, activities in town, and other fun things to fill up your evenings! Let us be your guide to experiencing Minnesota after the sun goes down.
If you do anything in Minneapolis, check out the city’s beautiful waterways, especially the Mississippi River (from the Stone Arch Bridge) and Bde Maka Ska, one of the ‘Grand Rounds’ lakes located not far from the city center.
How to Get to Minneapolis
The closest airport is the Minneapolis/St Paul (MSP) airport, which brings you a short 10 minute drive from downtown. The options for getting into and around the city are to drive, rideshare (Uber, Lyft, etc), or take the city’s light rail.
The easiest way to get around Minneapolis is to rent a car. The city does have a light rail, which runs across the Twin Cities from Minneapolis to St Paul and also stops at the Mall of America and the MSP airport. However, for maximum convenience, renting a car will be the ideal option. Parking is generally pretty easy around the city and at hotels as well. If you are only staying a few days, then ridesharing companies are an excellent option too.
Where to Eat in Minneapolis for Dinner
5-8 Club // Minneapolis is home to the ‘Juicy-Lucy’, a burger filled on the inside with melted cheese, and 5-8 Club is the place to go to try it out!
Black Sheep Pizza // Coal fired pizza located in the North Loop section of downtown Minneapolis. This is the best pizza in town!
Hen House // A great breakfast place located in downtown Minneapolis. Great for a sit down meal or to grab a meal to-go.
Brasa // Family-style dining in Northeast Minneapolis. Delicious homestyle chicken, but the real treat here is the sides. SO MANY delicious sides!
Young Joni // Great atmosphere, great food, and great drinks all come together at Young Joni. An excellent place for a dinner, happy hour, or even an event later in the evening!
Things to See in Minneapolis at Night
Stella’s Fish Cafe // If you are a seafood fan, make your way to Stella’s in Uptown. Perfect for a happy hour after work or for a night out. In the Summer, the rooftop is just about the best place to be in Minneapolis.
Psycho Suzi’s // Located right along the river, this is a beautiful place with very fun happy hour drinks and a delicious appetizer menu. Especially fun in the Summer on the gorgeous patio.
Surly Brewery // The Surly brewery is a Minnesota staple. Head to the enormous brewery and try a few samples of the local beers, and even stay for some great pizza!
Brit’s Pub // A great British themed pub with lawn bowling! Have you ever tried lawn bowling? It is an incredibly fun game, similar to bocce ball, but with a few fun twists. Come to Brit’s during a Soccer match and they will have the game on on every TV as well.
Sebastian Joe’s Ice Cream // The BEST ice cream place in Minnesota! Come to Sebastian Joe’s after dinner for a great little treat.
The Stone Arch Bridge is absolutely stunning, one of the best views of Minneapolis and the Mississippi River. Minneapolis is home to miles and miles of bike trails, if you are visiting in the Spring or Summer then take advantage and hit the trails!
