Red Rocks
Red Rocks Amphitheater is one of the most beautiful concert venues. It is the ONLY naturally-occurring, acoustically perfect open air amphitheater in the world! It sits 6,450 people above sea level- so if you’re coming to visit, prepare to be out of breath while trying to find your seat! There are A LOT of stairs!
Each summer incredible artists put on concerts at Red Rocks, but concerts aren’t the only thing to do there. Around the amphitheater are 738 acres of wild animals, trees, hiking trails and spectacular views. Many people go to Red Rocks to get in a good workout and some evenings they even play movies! When you come to Denver, this is a must see! Many shows start at 7:00 pm or 8:00 pm, with general admission tickets commonly costing $40-$50.
Shanahans Steak House
If you’re on the hunt for a SPECTACULAR steak, Shanahan’s Steakhouse is the place to go. I can tell you I have never had a better steak anywhere else. And the service? Incredible! Have you ever been to a restaurant and your water is refilled, crumbs swept off the table, steak knife delivered all WITHOUT seeing anyone?! These guys are STEALTH!
Another thing I really like about this restaurant is that it is not pretentious. You can go wearing jeans and a nice shirt, or you can go in a suit and tie. Either way, you will fit in. They also have a beautiful bar, huge indoor and outdoor fireplace and amazing wine display.
Shanahan’s has received numerous awards including the Open Table Diners Choice award, Wine Spectator’s Best Award of Excellence and was included in the Zagat’s Top 50 Best Restaurants. When you go to Denver, be sure to get a wonderful steak and bottle of wine at Shanahan’s. You will not regret it!
Top Golf
Don’t let the name fool you. You do not need to be a good golfer to go to Top Golf. Sure, it won’t hurt, but it’s so much more than golf! Top Golf is a three story driving range. Similar to bowling, there are different types of games to play, where you can earn points depending on what hole you hit the ball into. They also have amazing food, and drinks and each table has wait service so you never have to leave the your bay. Each bay has either a table for 6 or a large comfortable couch so people can sit and watch or relax in between turns. We have gone a few times with friends- who don’t know how to golf- and it’s really just such a fun night out! I highly recommend getting the queso or the chicken and waffle sliders- YUM!!!
Sports Authority Stadium at Mile High
If you happen to come to Denver during football season, you MUST go to a Bronco’s game! The stadium is HUGE and open air and we’ve got TRUE Bronco fans here. The stadium rumbles when the Broncos score a touchdown and people go crazy! Because it is open air though, be prepared for weather. In the fall, it can be VERY hot, and in January during playoffs, it’s been known to be in the negative temperatures and snowing. If you are a fan though, the weather doesn’t matter. Just have another beer to keep you warm!
If you are in Denver and it isn’t football season, there are always great concerts at Sports Authority Stadium. Guns and Roses, Kenny Chesney, and Lady Gaga to name a few. Here is the calendar of events.
Larimer Square
Larimer Square is in the heart of Downtown Denver. There are some amazing restaurants and bars as well as cute boutiques for shopping. The street is decorated with lights strung making it bright even in the late night. There are all kinds of events at Larimer Square including the Chalk Art Festival, the Peachy Sidewalk Sale, and famous comics from all over put on shows at Comedy Works. I highly recommend coming to Larimer Square if you are in Denver as it’s a hoping part of town!
There are so many things to do in Denver with your coworkers after 5:00 pm. With so many options for entertainment and food, you will certainly find something to do in the evenings!
